Excuse me while I step up on my soap box again...

I often wonder how many people truly read labels at the grocery store. I know I do, I once spent almost an hour in the bread aisle (one of the scariest aisles out there) trying to find a decent bread. It was pretty futile let me tell you.

I mean I know that going to McDonald's, nothing really is "healthy" but lets take a look at the McRib. Could you pack anymore Sugar into this one little sandwich? Wow! You might as well just sit down to some frosting, you'd probably enjoy it more.

People wonder why obesity is on the rise, you just have to look at a food label once in a while. When my dad was a kid, he ate sweets, hell they had milk delivered to the house and he would skim the cream off the top and just make homemade whipped cream and eat it. My grandmother made whoopie pies and buttercream frosting from scratch. That's with shortening and chocolate and cream.  Yet, they weren't fat.  They played outside and they got exercise by using their imagination and running around with sticks and making forts.

Nowadays, you don't let your kids outside because you are afraid that they are going to be abducted, even though statistically there aren't anymore abductions than when I was a kid (you just see an abduction/amber alert from 3000 miles away rather than just local news), your kids are plugged in EVERYWHERE they go, to cell phones, ipods, ipads, computers, game boys, etc. they get no exercise, your schools in order to make sure they are passing a ton of tests to some how prove the salaries of the teachers and the administration, they are cutting into any creative outlet such as art, photography as well as recess and gym classes, and you are pumping your kids full of antibiotics, rubbing their hands down with antibacterial soaps and creams, making them get flu shots and running to the doctors for a prescription for every little sniffle, all these chemicals in your kids bodies, are only compounded by the chemicals you are consuming everyday in your food, but you scoff at me for taking a natural approach to my health because it's not "FDA" approved, well thank god. The FDA approves chemicals in your food that have been linked to cancer, and you use it everyday in your coffee because it's got zero calories, well you go girl!

Society doesn't have an obesity problem because there is sugar and sweets, society has an obesity problem because they are lazy, parents are too lazy to play with their kids, or cook them real food (yes even cupcakes sometimes but from real ingredients), giving your kid every gadget under the sun so you don't have to interact with them. Admit it parents...you are part of the problem. Unplug. There is a reason they are called the good old days.

I've been using an app that gives food a grade. Things I thought were somewhat healthy....are getting a C grade. Everything single thing has sugar in it now.

Parents are a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE problem! Sadly, I was once one of them. Luckily, we realized that we were fattening up our kids in the manner of the witch in Hansel & Gretel and we did something about it.

I wish more parents would "unplug" and open their eyes. We are creating an even fatter, lazier generation. :( It's depressing. Downright depressing.
